Bad Brains - Punk Note

Bad Brains is an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. The band consists of lead vocalist H.R. (Paul Hudson), guitarist Dr. Know (Gary Miller), bassist Darryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson. The group is known for their unique blend of punk, metal and reggae. Their fusion of styles set them apart from other bands of the time, gaining a reputation for their live performances with frenetic energy and passionate vocals.

Bad Brains released their self-titled debut album on cassette in 1982, which is now considered a classic. Over the years, the band released several albums, including "Rock for Light" (1983, produced by Rick Ocasek, singer of The Cars), "I Against I" (1986), and "Quickness" (1989).

35 years since the release of "Quickness", the band is releasing limited “Punk Note” vinyl editions of their 4 iconic albums. Each “Punk Note” version comes with alternate packaging artwork from designer John Yates (Stealworks). The artwork is a nod to the Blue Note label designer Reid Miles and photographer Francis Wolff. Starting July 26, 2024, the “Punk Note” editions will be available on black vinyl, along with color variants of each title limited to 1,000 copies. Bad Brains impact on the hardcore punk scene has been significant, they are widely regarded as one of the most important and influential bands. Despite facing various challenges during their time, the band continues to influence generations of fans with their innovative sound and uncompromising attitude.
